Here is how it works before BalancePoint 3D. Let's say you have a rotor with 5 stages. Each stage has roughly 50 blades where each stage gets balanced individually. After the complete rotor is assembled, any remaining imbalance is compensated by additional weight added or removed from the rotor.

Here is how it works with BalancePoint 3D. The bare rotor may be measured for its initial unbalance. Then after all the blades are weighed and entered into BalancePoint 3D, it can determine a balance of all the blades at once using Dimensional Tunneling technology to produce a correct front to back balance of the complete assembly.

For ultra precision balancing applications, Balance Point software balances a set of blades, bolts, or other objects that will be installed on circular rotating machines. Produced by Turbine Metrology, a solutions provider to many of the foremost jet engine and gas turbine manufacturers, BalancePoint incorporates leading-edge balancing technology.

In gas turbine and jet engine applications with non-integral compressor blades and turbine buckets, the weight tolerance for the individual blades / buckets can significantly effect the balance of the assembled rotor. Even if the weight differential is small, if, by random assembly, more of the heavier blades are placed on one side of the rotor, the resulting unbalance condition may be more than can be corrected by additional balance weights or corrective machining processes. This means time-consuming and expensive disassembly of the rotor. BalancePoint is currently used by leading turbine manufacturers and rebuilders. It is a one button weighing and balancing system that quickly weighs and determines the optimum rotor location for every blade in the blade set.

BalancePoint can be furnished as a turnkey system or as software only. It can work with a number of types of electronic scales and moment weight checkers to utilize your existing measurement equipment.
