E-Balancing

For ultra precision balancing applications, E-Balancing is a service to balance a single set of blades, bolts, or other objects that will be installed on circular rotating machines. Provided by Turbine Metrology, a solutions provider to many of the foremost turbine engine manufacturers, E-Balancing incorporates leading-edge balancing technology.

What is E-Balancing?
E-Balancing is a service purchased online that takes the weight data for your set of blades and calculates an optimal blade placement to balance the set. It is excellent for occasional use.

How does the service work?

You weigh each blade or part. and put the weights into a text file or Excel spreadsheet
Go to the bottom of this page and click the Add to Cart button
In the shopping cart, change the Quantity to be the number of blades to be balanced
Proceed to checkout and use a major credit card to purchase.
Email to sales@eobj.com and attach a text file with weights and unique identifying information such as Blade Set Number and serial number of each blade.
We will confirm that we got the data right away.
A qualified engineer will balance the set and review the results.
Allow two business days to get the results back, although we usually can return the results in one day.

Benefits of balancing blade sets:
In gas turbine and jet engine applications with non-integral compressor blades and turbine buckets, the weight tolerance for the individual blades / buckets can significantly effect the balance of the assembled rotor. Even if the weight differential is small, if, by random assembly, more of the heavier blades are placed on one side of the rotor, the resulting unbalance condition may be more than can be corrected by additional balance weights or corrective machining processes. This means time-consuming and expensive disassembly of the rotor. E-Balancing determines the optimum rotor location for every blade in the blade set, minimizing static out-of-balance forces. This initial static balance optimization greatly reduces the time required in later dynamic balancing operations and the number of reworks and rejections of assembled rotors.

Specifications

Handles an unlimited number of blades or buckets. Balances sets up to 120 blades and higher.
Utilizing advanced heuristic algorithms, E-Balancing provides typical assembled out-of-balance < .05 grams.
Supports locking blades and special blade types that must land in slots of the same type.
If serial numbers are provided, they are carried along with each blade.
Results are provided in a text file and two PDF reports: the first with results ordered by blade number, and the second ordered by slot number.
